A Management Board member was faced with making a recommendation to the Board to vote against a merger that had been in preparation for over 18 months. Working with his coach the client focused on improving his influencing style so that he was able to persuade his colleagues of the rationale behind his proposal. The recommendation was accepted. It was followed by a new merger approach from another management team that was agreed. The client then had to engage effectively with the newly merged management team. At its heart was a major transitioning role. Using the VoicePrint Questionnaire the coach helped his client to recognise the need to make increased use of his ‘Exploring’ voices so that he could quickly demonstrate his ability to build rapport by recognising, respecting and engaging with the contributions and concerns of his new colleagues. Six months into the transition, the merger was deemed a success.
